Engineer Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State and Ayodele Fayose, ex-governor of Ekiti State, have both arrived in Osogbo, Osun state for the South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), slated to hold today.
The seat of the PDP Southwest Zonal Chairman will be contested between Dr Edward Olafeso the candidate of the former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, and Taofeeq Arapaja, a former Oyo State deputy governor who is the candidate of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In the course of this congress, Governor Seyi Makinde has boasted with confidence that his anointed candidate, Taofeeq Arapaja, will triumph at the PDP Southwest Zonal Congress, and taunted Ayodele Fayose, and his candidate Dr Edward Olafeso for struggling to get delegates’ support.
The PDP national leadership with all stakeholders concerned have united to achieve a seamless and unifying congress of the party in the South West region.
The assurance came two days after suspected political thugs disrupted the North-West Zonal Congress of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) at Kaduna International Trade Fairground.
