Today, the South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has begun in Osogbo, the capital city of Osun state.
PDP delegates are currently going through a thorough accreditation to enable them to cast their votes and install either Fayose’s candidate in Dr Edward Olafeso or Makinde’s candidate in Taofeeq Arapaja, as the chairman of the PDP in the Southwest region.
Governor Seyi Makinde addressed newsmen at the venue of the congress in Osogbo, and he expressed satisfaction at the ongoing South-West Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He also called on the PDP delegates to be fair and transparent with the selection process.
We remember that the southwest zonal congress had earlier been scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State but the change of venue became crucial due to the fall out between Ayodele Fayose and Governor Seyi Makinde.
However, the PDP national leadership has assured the relevant parties involved that they will work with all stakeholders concerned to achieve a seamless and unifying congress of the party in the South West region.
