Hours after reports of tribal clash between Yoruba and Hausa traders in the Sasa market of Ibadan, Oyo state government has shut down the market and impose an curfew, to run from 6pm to 7am, to assuage the situation that has ensued in the past hours.
Recall that yesterday violence erupted at Sasa market, Ojoo and Moniya axis of Akinyele local government area which reported took the life of a woman and valuable properties. The Oyo State Government has released a press statement regarding the event.
The statement read: “His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde has directed the immediate closure of Sasa market indefinitely following reports of a breach of peace in the area.
“The governor has also approved the imposition of curfew on Sasa . It will run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
“Residents of the affected area are enjoined to go about their legitimate businesses within the hours stipulated by the law.
“Anyone caught disrupting the peace of the community will be made to face the wrath of the law.”
