The Onjo of Okeho, Oba Rafiu Osuolale Adeitan 2 and The Sabiganna of Iganna, Oba Saliu Oyemonla Azeez, Ayefemiloye 1, on Tuesday, applauded the leadership of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission,(OYSIEC) for associating with appropriate stakeholders for the execution and smooth running of the forthcoming local government polls.
The monarchs gave the commendation at a stakeholders’ via community members meeting, held at Iwajowa and kajola, Oyo State.
The duo also communicated their satisfaction over innovations they saw introduced by the members into the commission, describing such as one that is capable of helping the team achieve all-inclusive election.
Oba Osuolale, however, advised the commission on the need to provide adequate security for voters and electoral officers before and during the elections to ensure free and fair polls.
He noted that the commission needs to intensify efforts in creating awareness to the general public about the importance of local government election to ensure massive turnout at all stages of election processes.
The Chairman of the Commission, Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN, while responding to questions from attendees, charged political parties in the state to emphasize on internal democracy to prevent needless conflicts that could spring up as a result of parties candidatures.
He further, explained that elections will take place only in the thirty-three local government council areas of the state that has been recognized by the constitution of Nigeria.
