…says Park Management System is illegal, supports NURTW
Engr Oyedele Hakeem Alao, the governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in 2019 in Oyo State, has sounded an alarm that Engr Seyi Makinde will lose the N76b World Bank project which will aid the people of the state in the area of environmental flood control, labelling the current members of the state assembly as ineffective and incompetent.
The former aspirant further revealed that after the contractors that would manage the project were selected based on global procedures and practices of the WB, Makinde reportedly maintained that if the project would not be executed by his choice nominees, then the USD200m project should be taken to another state.
Developments like this are the present reality of the current Oyo House of Assembly which is populated by Lilliputians, inexperienced, incompetent and incapable people who were only lucky to find themselves in the house.
Engr Hakeem Alao, in a statement by his media spokesman, Omotayo Iyanda, reported that examining the profiles of members of the current assembly, it was obvious that many of them lack the background, the prerequisite ability, intelligence, credentials and experience needed to be able to perform as expected in the state assembly. Checking their profiles, a lot of them lack outstanding professional/career background and exposure to working with a governor whose vision is blurred.
Saying that the current assembly is woeful failures in their checks and balances duty on the executive as opposed to what we had in the past, hence the numerous errors and failures in this present administration, he also said the present APC members in the assembly who are meant to tangible opposition had been very disappointing, co-operating with their PDP counterparts to ruin the state.
The ex-AD candidate reported that there were reports that the current Speaker, Rt Honourable Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, loses his confidence, experience and sagacity whenever he encounters Engr Seyi Makinde on any critical state matters, as he always as he was always trying to be in the good books of his Governor, which is alien to the experience when members like Chief Gbolagunte (a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly) from Eruwa, Ibarapa land, in the 1980s, was on the seat.
Last year, we said the decision to establish the Park Management System, was unconstitutional and an abuse of power, but in the usual characteristic of this government, they paid deaf ears. Now that the establishment and their operations had been invalidated by the court of law, Seyi Makinde and his administration owe the people of the state explanations on how he would recover the state money and loans he had invested in the project. This government has become tantamount to errors, blunders, and somersaults of decisions and policies which are clear signals that the governor and his team lack what it takes to lead Oyo State.
The state assembly should wake up to their responsibilities and stop this “boy boy” attitudes otherwise they should see themselves as not worthy of the votes of the people of Oyo State in 2023.
