The Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority, FHA Sen. Gbenga Ashafa, on Wednesday in Ibadan announced the commencement of the construction of 900 Housing Units By the Federal Government in Oyo State.
Speaking at the official handing over of the site to five developer where Ashafa was represented by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator FHA, Mrs Oluwatoyin Bada, he stated that the project estimated period of execution is 24 months.
According to Ashafa, the proposed site is located in Ajoda New Town in Egbeda Local Government Area.
He further urged the development partners to keep to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the housing scheme.
An official of the FHA present at the handing over, Mr Olakunle Busari authorized the developers to ensure proper documentation to avoid any glitch as the construction progresses.
He enjoined the developers to ensure written and pictorial proof to the authority as verbal explanations would not be tolerated.
Busari also advised the developers to take the matter of security as a priority; security of their equipment and staff, as well as making it compulsory for staff members to have identity cards.
He, however, instructed the developers not to demolish any structure seen on the site while clearing.
Dr Mike Anjorin, the Managing Director Woodston, one of the development partners, assured FHA that security would be prioritized to avoid vandalism as experienced in the past.
Anjorin said that the importance of the handing over ceremony of the Ajoda site was to ensure immediate commencement of work as he said the project would include infrastructure such as roads, electricity, drainages among others.
