Eid-el-Maulud: FG Declares Monday, October 10 as Work Free Day

To honor this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid festival in remembrance of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, the Federal Government of Nigeria through the county’s interior ministry has proclaimed Monday, October 10, 2022 as a national holiday.

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, made the announcement on Thursday and thanked all Muslims for being present, both at home and in the Diaspora.

In a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shuaib Belgore, Aregbesola admonished all “Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which the Holy Prophet Muhammad exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security, and harmony in the country.”

Ogbeni Aregbesola urges Nigerians, especially Muslims, to abstain from crime, violence, and other violent behavior. The Minister said, “We must show responsible leadership in Africa as the undeniable leader of our race.”

The Minister urges all Nigerians, and the youth in particular, to embrace the virtues of hard work and a peaceful disposition toward other people, irrespective of faith, ideology, social class, and ethnicity, and join forces with the President Muhammadu Buhari led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens would be proud of. The Minister also calls for an end to all divisive tendencies throughout the country.

Asserting that “when you see something do N-Alert, as this would elicit a prompt response from security agents,” the Minister exhorts Nigerians to be security-conscious and asks them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency and through the N-Alert application on Android and IOS.

The Minister sends warm holiday greetings to Nigerians and all Muslims worldwide.
