The Oyo state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced that it had deployed 2,000 officers for the Yuletide season.
Adaralewa Michael Akintayo, the state Commandant, told reporters in Ibadan that 2,000 policemen had been deployed to strategic areas around the state to ensure a crime-free holiday.
According to Adaralewa, the move was taken to guarantee strict security in the state before to, during, and after the Yuletide season. In interacting with the public, he advised the officers and men to be professional, nationalistic, and courteous, as every Nigerian deserves respect free of humiliation and harassment.
He also urged all Christians to use the holiday season to pray for peace in the country and to be charitable and reasonable in their celebrations.
He also urged well-meaning Nigerians to warn their children and wards against doing anything that could endanger the state’s tranquility, such as throwing firecrackers, especially now that the dry season and harmattan have arrived.
