The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Mineral Development Agency, Hon Abiodun Oni, on Friday, reacted to a viral video that filtered social media on Thursday regarding a purported illegal gold mining activities going on in Ibadan.
Oni, who issued a statement on the said video, noted that the visual will be subjected to proper scrutiny to ascertain its authenticity.
The Governor’s aide emphasized that the information contained in the video, whose source is not verified, will be investigated explicitly.
The video showed a particular unidentified location where the illegal mining was ongoing and Fulani were the ones behind the mining until they were allegedly sent packing by residents of the area.
Oni said the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, which is determined to improving the economy of Oyo state, would not fold its arms and allow unscrupulous elements
get between his drives of taking the state out of poverty to prosperity.
He added that the peace and security being enjoyed by citizens and residents of the state would not be allowed to be jeopardized by those hellbent on creating a chaotic atmosphere in the state.
