Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in the company of his Ondo state counterpart, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the State Commissioner of Police, Mrs Ngozi Onadeko has visited Shasha Market, where a recent ethnic clash broke out between ethnic groups a few days ago and has pledged to provide them relief materials in form of palliative do help alleviate them of the burden gotten from the crisis.
Seyi Makinde, in his speech during the visit, advised warring factions to seek peace, further adding that if peace is not sought for, nobody can forecast the outcome(s) of an ethnic clash.
The Governor also guaranteed that victims whose possessions were razed will be provided with palliative. He also adds that shutting down the market was a difficult call to make because he was worried about how the traders will make a living if their source of income was shutdown.
He later promised that hoodlums in the State will be made to face the full wrath of the Law, while underlining the fact that he is not a supporter of any ethnic group, instead the security of Oyo State will always be his top priority.
He said, “We will fish out and deal with the hoodlums in our midst no matter their ethnic group but those who are law-abiding will always have a place in Oyo State.
“I am not supporting the Fulanis. But we must not forget that we are one Nigeria.”
