Residents in Atiba local Government area of Oyo State on Friday staged a peaceful protest, demanding justice for Amotekun personnel who was arrested and accused of murder of a Fulani man in the state.
According to the protesters, who were mostly aged men and women, the alleged spate of insecurity challenges from robbers suspected to be Fulani men who rob and hijack motorcycles at Baale Agbe road in Atiba Division, Oyo State is becoming unbearable.
It was gathered that an Amotekun personnel was passing through the area when he sighted armed robbers who were operating.
Findings revealed that those armed robbers were coming towards the axis to hijack a motorcycle but didn’t know that the man on the bike was an Amotekun personnel.
It was gathered that after realizing he was an Amotekun personnel, they wanted to collect his gun and harm him but when dragging the gun with the Amotekun personnel, the bullet was released and hit one of the armed robber who was alleged to be a Fulani man and he died on the spot.
Nigeria Police operatives from Atiba Division later arrived the scene of the incidence and arrested the Amotekun personnel who was subsequently accused of murder.
In the video that has gone viral online, the protesters were however seen crying for justice for the Amotekun personnel who is a member of that community.
