Multiple social media reports, including this from the scene of a razed residential property, said the building belonged to Sunday Igboho, whose real name is Sunday Adeyemo.
He was said to have since moved away from the property, but multiple people, including children, were said to be present when the house was attacked.
Sunday Igboho has been at the centre of a controversial ultimatum for Fulani herdsmen to vacate vast lands in Oyo State. His action was condemned by President Muhammadu Buhari, who ordered police to use take lethal actions against him and his followers if necessary.
It was not immediately clear those responsible for the attack, which could potentially escalate ongoing tension around Fulani herders in southern Nigeria.
Mr. Igboho did not immediately answer calls seeking comments about the incident. A police spokesman in Oyo said he was not aware of the fire.
