OYSG Appoints NUT Member to Serve on SUBEB Board



A member of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Comrade Oladimeji Raji has been appointed by the Oyo State Government to serve on the board of Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Dr Nureni Adeniran, the chairman of Oyo SUBEB, playing host to the state Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) led by its Chairman, Comrade Samson Adedoyin, persuaded teachers that the Seyi Makinde’s administration is ensuring the proper rewarding of Teachers.

Oladimeji Raji has been of service to the Oyo State teaching service for 30 years and currently, he is Treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Teachers.

It is said that he has been committed to the welfare of teachers and serves at Progressive Day School II, Aladorin, Ibadan.

In the meantime, Dr Adeniran said that Oyo State Government prioritizes teachers in the state will always carry them along in the scheme of things at the Board particularly on the execution of educational policies and programmes of the state government, through the appointment of one of them.

He further said that the interests of teachers will never be jeopardized and that the committee would devise the best way to deal with their problems since some of them were once teachers.

The Chairman then listed some of how the Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration has encouraged teachers towards higher productivity, one of the major ways is the early payment of salaries and allowance to primary school teachers in the state.

Dr Nureni still charged the members of NUT to collaborate with the Board, advising the NUT leadership to do its best in making its members aware of the efforts of the State Government on their course.

He emphasized that the board will not think twice in chastising teachers who refuse to adhere to the rules of service, adding that, the present administration is working on modalities to recruit new teachers in the Basic Education sector.

Comrade Samson Adedoyin, NUT Chairman, showered praises on the State Government for being committed to the welfare of teachers, even as he instructed the State Government to delve into other areas where teachers need its attention.
