The Oyo State Government has announced a six-month further extension of the deadline given for the application of the Certificate of Occupancy under the Oyo Home Owners Charter (OYHOC) Scheme.
According to the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Barrister Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, the extension was necessitated due to the clamour for more time by property owners in the state to apply for the C of O under the OYHOC Scheme.
According to Barrister Abiodun, the window period for the application of the OYHOC was suppose to end in December 2020 which brought about a lot of traffic last year December, whereby a lot of applicants paid the required processing fee.
He, however, reported that a lot of applicants who could not process their C of O clamoured for an extension of the deadline and since the Seyi Makinde-led administration is dedicated to listening to the masses and as part of palliative to the people, the State government decided to give more time for the applicants to have their tittle documents processed.
Therefore the new deadline is June 2021.
The Commissioner advised applicants of the State’s C of O, to call 0700 696 52637, or visit the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development at Agodi Secretariat in Ibadan
Meanwhile, the Commissioner also warned Land Grabbers popularly known as ‘Omo Onile’ to desist from their nefarious activities while noting that the miscreants act is worrisome and poises serious security threat to the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by the people of the State.
He explained that the Ministry has been receiving a lot of complaints due to the activities of the so called ‘Omo-Onile’, and urged the land Grabbers to give peace a chance in the State.
