Oyo State Disburses Accrued Gratuity of 76 Retirees, Totalling 180 million naira



The Government of Oyo State disbursed the payment in arrears of the accumulated gratuity spanning June 2012 to August 2013, to a new set of 76 retirees.

Bringing the amount paid by this administration to a summation of three billion, four hundred and twenty million naira covering years 2012-2013 of unpaid gratuity.

Alh. ‘Siju Lawal, Commissioner for Establishment and Training, made this known in his presentation of the gratuity cheques to retirees for August 2013 held at the Ministry’s Conference Hall in Ibadan, he explained when the present administration came in May 2019, it inherited N28billion of unpaid gratuity debt from the last administration from the year 2012.

The Commissioner said that the monthly disbursement of N180million has assisted in the payment of the whole year 2012 gratuity, saying that the payment has extended into August 2013, as it Is always paid according to merit.

He revealed that the Ministry of Establishment and Training is working on the availability all records and information about retirees in electronic computed form as requested by Governor Makinde, to prevent loss of documents and speed up the process.

He later advised beneficiaries of the gratuity on wise investment, prudent spending and peaceful coexistence with others, to be able to enjoy a healthy and fulfilled life.

He said, “This is another day of joy to our retirees that are benefiting from this quarter’s payment of their gratuity.

“We believe they have gained one thing or the other from many pieces of training given by the government about life after retirement and how to survive the life of investments and private businesses.

“As demanded by the governor to aid accountability, avoid loss of vital data and to make the processing of documentation faster, we are starting electronic computation of the data soon.”

Giving their appreciative remarks , the beneficiaries lauded the State Government for its compassion in paying them their accrued gratuity, and prayed for the success of Governor Seyi Makinde led administration especially it’s citizens-friendly policies
