Oyo Police Command Is Not Under Any Pressure To Release Criminals – CP Onadeko



The Commissioner of Police in Oyo state, Ngozi Onadeko, has asserted that her Police command in Oyo state is not suffering extreme pressure to secure the release of suspects or alter the course of justice in the state.

In a statement by the police spokesperson; Fadeyi Olugbenga, the command stated that the Oyo police commissioner is not ready to impair the path of justice arising from any form of social, financial or political impact.


Repeating the command’s commitment to fair execution of justice, the Oyo police command stated that it had prosecuted no fewer than three persons since March for cases bordering on conspiracy and murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

It listed Commissioner of Police versus Abdulahi Yakubu Wakili, Commissioner of Police versus Lawal Oseni and Aliyu Oseni and that of Commissioner of Police versus Ayuba Tukur.

Inclusive in a statement, the case involving Abdulahi Yakubu is to come up on 17th May, that of Lawal Oseni and Aliyu Oseni is to come up on 19th May, while that of Ayuba Tukur is slated for May 26.

The statement read in parts: “The Commissioner of Police Oyo State Command, CP Ngozi Onadeko wishes to state that; the Command is not under any pressure to release suspects or to avert justice.


“The Command will continue to discharge its duties in combating crime and criminality in the state, hence the need for all to retain trust in the Nigeria Police, disabusing their mind of any tenet of justice denial due to any form of social influence. Members of the public are urged to continue to supply the Police with credible information and to be law-abiding.”

However, the Oyo state police department advised residents of the state to assist the police in curbing the progression of Crimes and social vices in Oyo state.
