Oyo assembly urges Governor Seyi Makinde to set up an Anti- grazing Task Force

In lieu of recent events of murder, kidnapping, banditry and destruction of farm produce in Oyo state which have mostly been reported to be perpetuated by Fulani herdsmen, the state house of Assembly, in their recent plenary session, called on the state government to follow up its Anti-grazing law with a task force to ensure proper implementation of the law.

The house of Assembly claimed that the move will reduce occurrences of farmers and herders clashes and also strengthen the strides of security in Oyo state.

The state house of Assembly speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, revealed this on his Twitter handle page yesterday. He also revealed that the state assembly is ready to give the governor the necessary support towards achieving the successful implementation of the Anti-grazing law in Oyo state.

The tweet reads “ @oyoassembly has call on Gov @seyiamakinde to set up Open Grazing Prohibition Task Force to ensure full implementation of the anti-open rearing and grazing law across the State.
This will stem herdmen-farmers clashes, destruction of farms and the tide of insecurity in the State ”

“ The Legislature will give all necessary support to @oyostategovt towards ensuring full implementation of all necessary laws including the anti-open rearing and grazing law. The use of Open Grazing Prohibition Task Force will help greatly in the implementation of the law ”
