Oyo ALGON, Late Ajimobi Younger Brother Break Fast and Pledges Allegiance To Adelabu For 2023

As Ramadan continues, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo state Chapter ended yesterday’s fast with Adebayo Adelabu, All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the 2019 election

Adelabu, who warmly hosted the ALGON members thanked them for honouring the Iftar invitation and seeing him as a worthy person to break their fast with.

One of Adelabu’s media aides, Femi Awogboro, revealed that his boss happily received the council chairmen, appreciating them for identifying with him in this Holy Month.

He also cited Adelabu as advising the ALGON members to not rest on their oars for the unity and progress of the party in their respective council area.

Adelabu said that the state needs the Progressive Party for the security and socio-economic advancement of the state.

“I implore you to put the interest of the party above personal interests and let’s work collectively for the victory of APC come 2023 in Oyo state. I must not fail to appreciate your unflinching support given to me before, during and after the 2019 Governorship election in Oyo state while looking forward to your continuous support ahead of 2023 poll, ” Adelabu said.

Mr Adeyinka Adeyemi of Ajorosun Local Council Development Area and Mr Arowomole of Lagelu Local Government, both of who are members of ALGON, in their respective reactions stated that the group is committed to supporting the aspiration of Adelabu to become the Governor of Oyo State.

They claimed their support, is not sentimental nor biased, but based on the fact that he was the party’s candidate in the 2019 general elections, and candidature is highly sellable given the results of the last election and surveyed public expectation for 2023.

“He currently enjoys the people’s sympathy consequent upon the lacklustre performance of the present administration and fielding a different, unknown and unpopular candidate at this point may spell doom for the party come 2023,” they said.

Present at the Iftar programme, was the late former governor Abiola Ajimobi’s younger brother, Mogaji of the Ajimobi’s clan, Alhaji Wasiu Ajimobi who remarked that he attended the Iftar to identify with Adelabu as his friend and support him towards the realisation of his ambition to become the governor of Oyo state.

“My late brother, the former governor’s choice of Adelabu as the party’s flagbearer in 2019 was not by accident but his belief and trust in Adelabu’s capacity, capability and family antecedent to succeed him among other equally qualified candidates. He worked hard for this together with the party before his death and it is my wish that we continue where he stopped to realise this ambition in 2023. I’m sure, wherever he is today, that would still be his wish. I trust him and his sense of choice and decision. So, I’m fully committed to this project and I enjoin my friends in ALGON to continue to support what is right at all times. Adelabu’s choice for 2023 is the right choice, no sentiment,” Ajimobi revealed.

Other pressing matters about Oyo APC and national development, were also discussed at the Iftar Programme.
