The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, has achieved a new milestone as the first Nigerian polytechnic whose Higher National Diploma graduates will be enrolled into the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology’s professional membership cadre (NIFST).
Dr. Akin Fagbemi, a former Secretary of the Institute and Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority, announced this during an induction ceremony of the institution’s graduating students into the professional membership cadre of NIFST yesterday.
At the Induction ceremony, Dr. Fagbemi, who was representing the National President and Chairman of the Council of NIFST, Prof. M. O. Iwe, exhorted the graduates to put their academic knowledge obtained in the school over the previous five years to good use.
He exhorted the inductees to contribute effectively to their personal and national economic development while sending goodwill sentiments from the national president while administering the oath of professional allegiance.
At the induction, Governor Makinde was praised by Dr. Fagbemi for making Oyo State the first state in Nigeria to have polytechnic students inducted into the institute’s professional membership cadre.
After serving as Assistant National Secretary and National Secretary in the past, the OYRTMA president now occupies the national ex-officio post in the institute.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness, Oba Khalid Olabisi, the Okeere of Saki Kingdom, has praised the operations of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) in Saki and its environs, claiming that it has helped to save the lives of several inhabitants of the town.
While hosting the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA), Dr. Akin Fagbemi, in his office for a courtesy visit, he made this known through the Bagii of Saki Land, High Chief Abdul-Rasheed Gazaal Adegoke.
Akin Fagbemi, who was in Oke-Ogun for a sensitization and advocacy program, asked residents and motorists to drive more cautiously and adhere to the highest road safety standards, especially during the ember months.
