Notorious Rail Track Vandals Terrorising Southwest Region Arrested in Ibadan


Five suspected vandals have been apprehended by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), who have been pillaging and damaging rail tracks across the Southwest.

The suspects were captured with 200 pieces of Pandrol clips; an important component of rail tracks attached to the base plate that prevent the rail from moving vertically or horizontally.


Two of the suspects were captured at the Odediran region of Ogun State with about 75 Pandrol clips by private security officers hired by the construction company while the other three were apprehended at Ologuneru, Oyo State, with over 147 of the said clips.



According to a corporate source, the company has lost more than 30,000 pandrol clips to Vandals since the start of the new rail project that runs through the area.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Angelique Ikwuka, CECC’s District Manager (West), verified the suspected robbers’ arrest, adding that a commercial motorcycle reportedly utilized by the accused for their heinous crimes was also discovered and impounded during the arrest.

The suspected thieves have been handed over to local police authority and will be charged to court immediately investigations is concluded, she concluded.
