Makinde Announces N500 million Grant for the LAUTECH Iseyin Campus


The state governor, Engr ‘Seyi Makinde, has announced a 500 million naira grant to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Iseyin Campus, in his attempt to strengthen the education sector and transform Oyo state into the number one learning destination.



The governor made the remarks at the foundation-laying ceremony for the Administrative Building of the College of Agriculture and Renewable Natural Resources, LAUTECH Iseyin Campus, Okeho Road, Old College of Education Site, Iseyin, which was attended by Oyo State Chief Judge, Muktar Abimbola; the Chairman, House Committee on Education; the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture, Commissioners, lawmakers, and others.



Governor Makinde announced the approval of a N500 million grant, which has been set aside to ensure the smooth launch of the campus, while also stating that the expenditure needed for the campus building has been captured in the proposed 2022 budget, which has yet to be approved by the State House of Assembly.


Meanwhile, Prof. Ayodeji Omole, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), had highlighted the institution’s issues before the National Universities Commission handed it over to the Oyo state government.

Ahmed Raji, a philanthropist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, praised Governor Makinde’s efforts and suggested that the campus’ infrastructure amenities be upgraded to help students’ mobility and increase economic activity.
