The alumni association of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has called for an emergency meeting on the move by the Oyo Government to rename the institution to Ladoke Akintola University, LAU.
Recall that Oyomesioro had earlier reported that the Oyo Government in its effort to change the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, from a technology university to a conventional university, said a bill titled “2022 LAUTECH Amendment Bill”, will be forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly.
The Bill, which seeks to amend the objectives of the university to accommodate other fields of study and alter its present status as a strict technological institution, as well as allow it to make provision for workers’ pension scheme, was approved at the Executive Council meeting.
Confirming the news of the scheduled meeting, the alumni president, Hon. Onilede Solomon Limo said that the union is set to hold an emergency meeting on the subject matter.
Oyomesioro gathered that there has been rumbling and discussions on different platforms on the move by state government with different opinions held out on the development.
