Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Auto Crash Claims 6, leaves 12 Injured on Christmas Day




Not less Six than six people have reportedly died while 12 others were injured in a collision involving a Toyota Hiace bus and an Iveco trailer on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway today, December 25, 2021, near the ELANLAN construction zone.

Mr. Ahmed Umar, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the event to newsmen in Abeokuta, saying the crash happened about 3:20 a.m.

He went on to say that road blockage, high speed, and the trailer driver’s lack of control were all suspected reasons of the incident.

According to the sector commander, 12 people were injured and six individuals perished.

According to him, the two vehicles involved were a Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number MK A567 XZ and an Iveco trailer with the registration number XF 854 KTN.

The injured people were brought to several hospitals, according to the FRSC head, with some being sent to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Unit in Ojota, some to Divine Touch Hospital in Ibafo, and still others to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.

The bodies were deposited at Idera Mortuary in Sagamu, according to Umar.

“A total sum of N127,900 was recovered from the crash scene,” he said.

The sector commander consequently advised Motorists to drive slowly and follow all traffic laws.
