Ibadan Poly Assures Students of Safety as school Conveys Security Meeting

The leadership of the Polytechnic of Ibadan has guaranteed that peace will be restoredback to the campus as soon as possible.

The assurance is coming after a shoot out between cult groups on institution’s campus on Tuesday. It was gatjered that cult gangs allegedly engaged in a 20-minute gunfight on campus, sending students fleeing for their lives.

The institution’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Soladoye Adewole while sepaking on the developments told the reporters that security personnel were working hard to restore calm on campus.

“We are liaising with all the security agencies and shortly everything will be put under control.

“The academic calendar is not affected in any way and nothing will affect it,’’ he assured.

During the shooting rampage, however, some persons were claimed to have been struck by stray bullets.

The customary buzz and bustle on school ended quickly, according to a trader on campus, as many people fled the campus.

During the shooting, a Toyota Corolla driver lost control near the Sewage section of campus, climbed over a tree, and slammed into the roof of a junior quarters building.

In the brawl, a commercial motorcyclist was hurt and is presently being treated at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.
