A fresh crisis looms between members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and suspected cultists if security bodies and the Oyo State Government do not take promptly proactive.
This follows a statement that the OPC in the state made, saying, it might resort to self-defence if the security agencies fail to protect its members at Oopo, Inalende, Abebi and its environs against the attack from the hoodlums and cultists in the vicinity.
The warning came on the heels of the revelation that the only survivor of a recent attack on the OPC members in Oopo, identified as Opeyemi, has just passed away.
The death toll has now risen to three; following the number of casualties recorded by the OPC after two had earlier been confirmed dead with Opeyemi in a coma.
Comrade Rotimi Olumo, Oyo State Coordinator of OPC, gave the warning when contacted yesterday.
He said that the gangs that attacked and killed three of his members are not only hoodlums and cultists in the day but are also armed robbers in the night.
He expressed shock that despite the destruction being unleashed on innocent resident farmers by the suspected criminals in the villages and farms, some youths could also turn themselves to menace in the cities, terrorising people.
