An officer of the Oyo State Amotekun Corps, Suleiman Quadri was killed on Tuesday, April 20, 2021, after an ambush by unknown Gunmen. The deceased, in the company of some other Amotekun officers, was escorting farmers to their farm in Fiditi when they were waylaid by unknown gunmen.
Quadri died at the scene while one of his fellow officer, Amoo Yisau took gunshot wounds, is still alive and is receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Owode, Oyo.
Sources say the gunmen were about 11 and the purpose for the ambush is still cryptic. The commander of the Amotekun Corps, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd) has confirmed the incident and pledged to share further updates when a proper investigation commences.
The young officer, Quadri was 25 years old, he has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
