
An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan has reportedly charged four men for allegedly attacking two police officers.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Omobonike, 45, Abdulahi Akewula, 33, Idowu Basit, 25, and Alimat Muhammad physically assaulted one Insp. Edalere Samusideen of the Iyaganku police station.
The defendants are also accused of hurting and abusing Sgt. Rufus Adewuyi, a different police officer, on the same day and at the same place, according to the prosecutor.
The offenders’ homes were not made public, but they were charged with serious assault and assault causing harm.
According to the prosecutor, Mr. Philip Amusan, the defendants are accused of committing the crime on January 31 at 4:30 p.m. near Idi-Ayunre Road in Ibadan.
He said that the offense was against Section 356(2) of the Oyo State Criminal Laws of 2000.
However, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
The defendants were granted bail in the amount of N50,000 and one surety in the same amount by the magistrate, Mrs. O. A. Akande.
She consequently set a hearing date of March 3 for the matter.
