At least eight persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident involving a sixteen seater bus and a truck, at Celica bus stop, along Ife-Ibadan expressway, at the early hours of Tuesday.
Eye witness reports noted that the truck was coming from Lagos when it lost control of its brakes and crashed into an oncoming sixteen seater bus, coming from Osun State, leading to the instant death of the driver and some passengers of the bus.
The reports furthered stated that the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m which made an emergency response to the victims a bit impossible.
It wasn’t until around 10 a.m. that aid started arriving for the victims, but it was too late as some had given up the ghost.
Residents are heaping blames on the government for this accident due to the road being under rehabilitation, forcing motorists to utilise only one lane on the road and breeding one-way traffic.
The residents, thereby, charged the Government to speed up work on the road to avoid more heart-wrenching tales like this.
