Court remands park manager for defiling child in Ibadan

A 38-year-old park manager of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lukman Adegoke, has been remanded by the Iyaganku family Court at the Agodi correctional facility, Ibadan, for allegedly defiling a five-year-old child.

The Court had been notified previously by the prosecution counsel, Gbemisola Adedeji that Mr Lukman allegedly had illicit sexual intercourse with the child on the 2nd of June at Igbokojo area, in Ibadan.

“After buying noodles from the mother, Lukman allegedly lured the victim to a corner where he defiled her without her consent,” Ms Adedeji said.

She said the offence contravened the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.

The chief magistrate, S. H. Adebisi, did not take the defendant’s plea because of a lack of jurisdiction.

He, however, ordered Mr Lukman’s remand at the Agodi correctional facility pending the outcome of advice by the Directorate of Public Prosecution and his arraignment at the appropriate court.

The matter has beenadjourned till July 11, 2022.
