The Director-General of Accord Campaign Council, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke has announced that the Accord will implement the five percent constitutional allocation to the traditional rulers and establish farm cities in Oke-Ogun geo-polotical zone of the state if the party is elected into the government in Oyo state in 2023.

The gubernatorial candidate of the party, Chief Adebayo Abdul-Waheed Adelabu, and Olooye Adegoke made this declaration during the party’s consultation with and paying of homage to the 13 traditional rulers in Atisbo local government area of Oyo State to seek their blessings and support.

The traditional rulers in attendance at the Palace of Onitede of Tede, Oba AbdulRauf Oladoyin include Aare of Ago-Are, Oba (Dr) Abodunrin Oyetunji Kofoworola; Ajoriwin of Irawo, Oba Musiliu Ademola; Oloto of Ofiki, Oba Sunday Oyedokun Adeoye; Alageere of Ofiki, Oba Bashiru Iyiola Oyesiji; Aare of Ofiki, Oba Gbenga Adigun Adeoye; Alageere of Ago-Are, Oba Uthman Azeez Oyetunde.

Others are Olooto of Ago-Are, Oba Azeez Omofoyewa; Onibaasi of Baasi, Oba Azeez Babatunde; Onigbadi of Agunrege, Baale Sabe, Olowode of Irawo Owode, Oba Adeleke Jubril and Oba of Owotoro, Ogungbenro Moses.

While soliciting for their supports, the DG Campaign Council, Olooye Adegboyega Adegoke said all the entitlement that is due to traditional rulers constitutionally, which has been rubbish by the present administration in the state as a result of the suppression and oppression of the local government administration.

Adegoke explained that if the local government is functional, there is five percent allocation which is earmarked for traditional council from the monthly local government allocation.

“But the present government in Oyo state has killed local government administration which made it difficult for any developments at the grassroots. If Accord is voted into power in 2023, one of our cardinal agenda is local government autonomy.

“There is monthly allocation from the federal government to the states and local governments but it is disheartening that while states have free hands on how to spend their allocations, some states like Oyo state are the ones controlling local government allocations, which made it difficult for local council in Oyo state to carry out any tangible projects.

“We in Accord as parts of our agenda, local government autonomy will be giving priority so that development can get into grassroots”.

Also addressing the thirteen traditional rulers, the gubernatorial candidate of the Accord, Chief Adebayo Abdul-Waheed Adelabu promised to establish modernize farm cities in Oke-Ogun as well as Ibarapa to enhance agricultural and human development.

Adelabu pointed out that Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa geo-polotical zones of the state are the food baskets if not for the whole western states, but some of the states.

“As a result of this, we need to improve on our agricultural system. We would establish farm cities with modernised irrigation, electricity, farm house and other amenities that will make farmers comfortable.

“It is also a pity that after Iseyin, there is no good roads leading to other town in this zone, it is not out of place to have dualised roads in Oke-Ogun, the 20 billion Naira expended on motor parks is enough to provide good roads in Oke-Ogun.

“When you are constructing motor parks without good roads, what will be the fate of vehicles, the drivers and farmers that want to transport their agricultural products to cities and other parts of the country where there is no good roads linking Oke-Ogun to other towns.

“We in Accord promised to provide essential amenities such as good roads, healthcare, agricultural development and rural electrification”.

While all the 13 traditional rulers and chiefs in attendance prayed and blessed the aspiration of Adelabu, they also pledged their supports for him to emerge victorious in the 2023 election.
