Your Impatience Costs You – Oloko Knocks hard on Coalition Members

Abass Oloko, vice-chairman of the Oyo State Tourism Board and a noteworthy member of the People’s Democratic Party, has criticized detractors of Governor Seyi Makinde, claiming that, contrary to their assertions, the governor rewards loyalty and commitment.

Oloko made the statement in response to a statement by Muideen Olagunju, a former member of the Oyo legislature, who claimed Makinde did not treat Lanlehin equitably.

He stated that if Femi Lanlehin and other dissatisfied members of the alliance and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had waited, they would have been able to enjoy Governor Makinde.

Recall that Lanlehin as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2019 election was among, those who stepped down their ambition for Makinde.

Oloko said, “I have not stopped hearing people say Governor Makinde did this and that. But we have all forgotten he is human. To govern a state is not a tea party. And to govern a state like Oyo requires absolute wisdom and guidance from God. For me, I know Governor Makinde is sincere. It may take time, he rewards loyalty. I can assure you about that.

“Remember when the government started, he offered Sen. Lanlehin the chairmanship of the advisory council even before contacting Sen. Alleluyah and he rejected it. At times, we need patience to see what the future holds. I believe if  Sen. Lanlehin had taken up that position, he would have used it very well to advance the cause of others.

”I know many loyalists of Sen. Lanlehin and ADC who are still angry he rejected the appointment. Good, he may have his reasons for rejecting the offer but I think he was impatient. Governor Makinde has a lot of commitment and it takes time before all these can be addressed.

”So, I want to address those who are in the habit of saying Governor Makinde betray anybody, to desist from that. At least, Sen. Lanlehin has joined the APC. May he find what his heart desires there.

“One thing all of these people cannot deny is the fact that Governor Makinde has performed and he is performing. And I am sure that when it is time, our people will repay the achievements by re-electing him for another term,“ the Ibadan chief said.

Oloko went on to tell Makinde’s critics to quit attacking him at every turn and instead support his progressive government.
