Igangan Slaughter: We Are Ready To Help Security Agencies Fight Back Fulani Herdsmen – Oyo OPC

The Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Oyo Chapter, who are loyal to the Aare Onakankanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has condemned the horrifying carnage at Igangan, Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo state.

Comrade Rotimi Olumo, State Coordinator, while condemning the attack said he received a distress call from the Chairman of OPC in that area at midnight that Fulani herdsmen have attacked Igangan town.

Olumo said since the notorious warlord, Isikilu Wakili was arrested by OPC members there had never been a day in Ibarapa land that innocent citizens are not slaughtered, adding that the security situation in Ibarapa land is very alarming.

He also wondered why the federal government will fold its arms and let Fulani herdsmen be slaughtering Yorubas on their father’s land.

He said he was surprised upon hearing that the palace of Asigangan of Igangan land was razed by Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa on Sunday calling on both the federal and state government to handle the situation rightly.

According to the OPC leader, the government should permit OPC the full power to counter the Fulani herdsmen in Oyo state saying “We arrested and handed over Wakili to the police some months ago. I can tell you that up till now three of our members are still in police custody because of Wakili.

“I can tell you categorically that it is Wakili boys that are behind several kidnapping and other atrocities been committed in Ibarapa land.

He however disclosed that he has ordered all his members in Ibarapa land to fight against any further attack on the land.

He further appealed to the government to support and equip Amotekun with modern equipment that can tackle the excesses of Fulani herdsmen.

He also advises members of the public to give useful information to OPC because “we have all that it takes both physical and spiritually to resist Fulani herdsmen in the Southwest region of the country. The Government should not practice nepotism where the Fulani are shown to be above and superior to other ethnic groups.

“OPC is ready to assist all security agencies in making sure that peace reigns in all nooks and crannies of Oyo state.”

He also advised all traditional monarchs in the Southwest to support and complement the effort of OPC, saying that traditional rulers have critical roles to play in making peace reign in the Southwest region.
