Adelabu Donates Cash Palliative of ₦1.4m to Shasha Market Victims, Pledges Reconstruction with Building Materials



Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the 2019 Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, has given N1.4million as palliatives to the Shasha Market crisis victims and also pledged building materials for the reconstruction of the market.


Remember that the market was destroyed during a communal clash between the indigenes and the Hausa community recently.

He stated this during his visit to the Baale Shasha Chief Akinade Ajani, Sherik Shasha Alhaji Haruna MAI -Yasin Kastina and other market leaders.

Femi Awogboro, a media aide to Adelabu, said Chief Bayo Adelabu, was at the popular Shasha Market in Akinyele Local Government to console the community and stakeholders at the market while delivering the message of Asiwaju Tinubu of his intended visits to Shasha and Agodi Spare Parts markets.


“I am a thoroughbred Ibadan indigene who knows the importance and economic value of this market, hence the need for this visit and I pledge both financial and moral support towards the reconstruction of the market. I have also formally notified the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu about Shasha and Agodi Spare Parts markets, he has promised to visit the two markets personally along with me and I am confidently sure that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will give a generous donation towards their reconstruction”, Adelabu said.

Chief Adelabu advised the Oyo State Government, of Governor Seyi Makinde to give critical attention to these markets due to their economic and commercial value to the overall development of the state.


He however stated that his visit is not political but to support the economic development of the state and the peaceful co-existence in the state as an indigene and stakeholder.

He further urged respective leaders in the market and the Shasha community at large to embrace dialogue and shun any act that can truncate the peaceful co-existence between Yorubas and Hausas in the Area.

“There’s need to shun violence and embrace peace because it’s only an atmosphere of peace that any meaningful development can thrive”, Adelabu added.

Chief Adelabu prayed for the family of those who lost their lives, that they have the fortitude to bear the loss and divine consolation and blessings for those whose investments were destroyed during the crisis.

Giving separate speeches, the Baale Shasha Chief Akinade Ajani and Seriki Shasha Alhaji Haruna MAI-Yasin Kastina thanked Chief Adelabu for deeming it necessary to support the Shasha community over the unfortunate incident that disrupted commercial activities in the market.


The two community leaders praised the financial guru for his philanthropic gestures and pledges to support the reconstruction of the shops at the market.

Market leaders also spoke at the programme, they include Babaloja of Shasha, Alhaji Rasheed Popoola; Iyaloja Shasha, Alhaja Mosobaloju who was represented by Alhaja Sikirat Afolabi and Youth Leader in the Market said the visit of Chief Bayo Adelabu to Shasha Market came to them as a surprise, especially the donation and his pledge to provide necessary materials to support the reconstruction of the shops at the market.

They lauded Chief Adelabu for presenting the issue of the market before Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu which according to them further demonstrated the kind-heartedness of Adelabu while they express their trust and hope in the support of the APC National Leader for the market.

Chief Bayo Adelabu, who is the Agbaakin Parakoyi of Ibadan land was escorted by dignitaries like Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Hon Gbenga Olaleye Ariba, Senior Chief Wasiu Ajimobi, Hon Kayode Fagunwa, Hon Wale Murphy, Alhaji Hon. Tajudeen Balogun, Hon Iyiola Ambali, Chief Asiwaju, former Vice-chairman Akinyele Local Government, Hon Taiwo Ige and Hon Olumide Alli among others.
