About five thousand Pensioners that retired from the service of the Oyo State government from 2012 to 2019 have been paid about eighteen billion naira gratuities by the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration within a short period of three years in office.
To this end, the government is working assiduously to ensure that other pensioners who retired from 2019 till date that have not been given their gratuities are paid for the improved welfare of all the retired civil servants in the state.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Asiju Lawal disclosed this while featuring on BCOS current affairs live television programme in Yoruba language, Kutuhai
The Commissioner added that the present administration has in the last three years in office sponsored training and re-training for many pensioners and civil servants for an improved service delivery.
He stated further that the government has also been paying thirty thousand naira minimum wage to all civil servants in the state as at when due despite the economic challenges in the country.
The Assistant Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Oyo State chapter, Comrade Banji Koleosho who also featured on the programme gave kudos to Governor Makinde for living up to the expectations of the people especially with his regular payment of gratuities and monthly pensions to his members as at when due.
He added that the last three years of the present administration in Oyo State can be described as the best for pensioners in the state
